The precious resource has been in short supply in supermarkets of late. However local Meals on Wheels recipients will be given special access thanks to a Woolworths donation.

Service manager Sharon Grummer said the supermarket chain had donated to all branches across Australia as a goodwill gesture. Goulburn's branch received 50 packets of four rolls each, to be dispersed to 45 clients on the books.

"They will love this," Mrs Grummer said.

"Our clients are mostly going with the flow and not panicking over the coronavirus pandemic. A few are self isolating for their own protection."

Some had also experienced difficulty getting a disabled car park in Goulburn's CBD to access supermarkets. However most had assistance with shopping from family or agency carers.

Mrs Grummer said volunteer numbers, particularly from government organisations, had declined due to the coronavirus threat but the service was still delivering each weekday.

"If it comes to it and we're given a directive by the Health Minister, we could still deliver hot meals, provided there's no contact," she said.

Meantime, the local Meals on Wheels is trialling a new line of frozen meals, sourced from the Riverina area.

Mrs Grummer said the My Chef meals were tastier and free of artificial colours, flavours and preservatives but were slightly dearer than previously.
