Economic recovery from COVID-19 and bushfires will be the topic of discussion at the next virtual gathering of the Goulburn Chamber of Commerce, to be held on Wednesday, May 13.

"As the current situation continues, and the effects of COVID-19 restrictions are beginning to be felt more deeply by local businesses, the chamber continues to focus on connecting business owners with local and regional experts," said chamber president Mark Bradbury.
"There is an overwhelming amount of information and support programs available, and the chamber is committed to providing business owners with access to advice and insights that can help guide their decision making."
The online forum will include a number of guest speakers providing information for attendees about bushfire and COVID-19 assistance and initiatives.
Businesses in Goulburn Mulwaree will now be eligible to apply for the NSW Government's Small Business Bushfire Support Grants of up to $10,000.
"Although our local government area was, thankfully, not significantly damaged by the 2019/20 bushfires, local businesses were impacted by the flow-on effects of this event," said Mr Bradbury.
"The efforts of Goulburn Mulwaree Council in lobbying for the inclusion of this LGA in the grant scheme is to be commended.
"Any local business who was impacted by the bushfires is encouraged to apply for the grant."
Jackson Reardon from council will be joining the May chamber meeting to talk through the process of applying for the Small Business Bushfire Support Grants.
Goulburn Chamber of Commerce is also supporting the Local Emergency Management Committee (LEMC) in the collection of data to inform a COVID-19 Business Impact Assessment for Goulburn Mulwaree.
The purpose of the assessment is to quantify the impact COVID-19 restrictions have had on local businesses, and understand what support will be needed for businesses to begin operations again once restrictions are loosened/removed.
This data will assist the LEMC in making submissions to various government bodies for support once the recovery phase begins.
Mick Beard, chamber representative on the LEMC, will speak to meeting attendees about the business assessment process and how they can get involved.
Additionally, Charlotte James, Business Solutions Executive for the Illawarra Business Chamber, will be talking about the role of the regional chamber in supporting small businesses and resources available for businesses to access.
The combined general meeting and open business forum will be held via Zoom at 7.30am on Wednesday, May 13, and is open to all local business owners. The link will be made available on the chamber Facebook page and website.
