The NSW Farmers Goulburn Branch has sent letters of support for Goulburn Mulwaree Council's bid for Federal funding to assist with the upgrade to Chinaman's Lane and the replacement of Towrang Bridge.

If successful, Council will be able to widen and upgrade Chinaman's Lane to assist with improved travel times for heavy vehicles resulting in productivity gains and a number of safety advantages. The proposed new two lane bridge on the Towrang road would be higher than at present enabling safer access to the community together with reducing the frequency and duration of isolation when the river floods.

In other news, farmers around the State are concerned about the proposed new Koala SEPP. This new piece of legislation has potential ramifications for routine farming operations and there is no ground trothing for the maps being used to identify koala habitats.
NSW Farmers has met with all relevant State Government Ministers to highlight the concerns for the farming community, advocate for changes to the SEPP and work on better measures to protect koalas.
