The mother of Margaret, Jacquie and Lionel Hart moved from Ungarie to the Southern Tablelands town with her family when she was 11-years old.

Due to coronavirus restrictions, a birthday party wasn't able to be held, but Margaret and Jacquie were able to visit their mother who resides at Warrigal.

"We haven't been able see Kath much recently as Warrigal has been in lockdown, so we're excited to see her today," Margaret said.

"We'd like to thank Warrigal for all the efforts they put in.

"They decorated her room with birthday banners and lots of balloons and made her a cake to share with us as well a a glass of wine."

Jaquie described her mother as a private person.

"She was very quiet and independent, but did have a fairly social life," Jacquie said.

Kath moved to Warrigal in November 2016 because she had lost most of her sight and hearing.

Growing up, Kath didn't do much schooling, but was frequently out in the country helping her relatives.

She became a nurse at Kenmore Hospital in 1936 until she married butcher Lionel Hart in 1939.

"Back in those days, butchers would deliver meat to their customers and that's how they met," Margaret said.

Lionel went to war, but unfortunately passed away shortly after his return in 1946 aged 31.

Kath, who has seven siblings, loves sports, especially the Canberra Raiders, the Workers Football Club, tennis and played lawn bowls.

She also loves talking about politics.

Margaret and Jacquie absolutely love their mother because of the amount of attention and time she put into them.

"She gave up a lot to look after us," Jacquie said.

"She made sure we all had a good education.

"We all ended up going to TAFE."

Kath's biggest contribution to the town was being one of the founding members of the Goulburn Soldiers Club.

Kath also has four grandchildren; Timothy Williams, Shaun Williams, Steven Hart and Preston Hart.
