Goulburn-based Dream Admin is one of the first businesses to sign up for Anglicare's Pantry Appeal, which collects non-perishable food and toiletries for vulnerable families.
"We wanted to do something for people in our community. When we found out that all food would be distributed locally through Anglicare's services, we jumped at the chance," Marnie Wragge-Morley, Dream Admin's digital manager, said.
"So far, we have filled 20 shopping bags with contributions from family members, staff, friends, and clients. It's been such an easy and practical way to help," Miss Wragge-Morley said.
Food will be distributed through Anglicare Goulburn's Housing Support Service and Emergency Relief Service which provides assistance to over 600 people a year.
Toni Reay, Anglicare's Housing and Social Services Manager in Goulburn, feels that Dream Admin's support will make a difference.
"To see local teams caring for those who are doing it tough right now really reflects the heart of this community," she said.
Miss Reay also noted that housing and job insecurity, health problems, domestic violence, and relationship breakdowns are some of the most common reasons people experience food insecurity.
"Families will go without food to keep a roof over their heads. It's even worse at the moment given these uncertain times. More and more families are struggling, which isn't surprising given what's happened this year with bushfires and COVID. It's wonderful for charities like ours to know that we aren't providing this support alone," she said.
Miss Reay encouraged other businesses to consider supporting the Pantry Appeal food collection.
