Margaret Beazley AC QC is on a listening tour of the State's regions. Mayor Bob Kirk said one of the Governor's missions was to learn more about how the regions were coping with coronavirus.
"But funnily enough we didn't even talk about it," he said.
Instead, the Mayor said he was delighted to take Her Excellency on a virtual tour with the help of council executive assistant, Amy Croke, who filmed the tour.
It included a walk through Goulburn's newly opened Rocky Hill War Memorial Museum, completed by Crone Architects. The $2.5 million project features a larger, modern space for exhibitions. The work also included refurbishment of the adjoining caretakers cottage.
Museums officer Kerry Ross provided the commentary for the walk-through.
Then, attention turned to the Goulburn Regional Art Gallery where director Gina Mobayed gave the Governor a bird's eye view of current exhibitions and the overall space.
Cr Kirk said the meeting, though not face- to- face, was very enjoyable.
"While we didn't show it, I was also able to assure her that the tree her husband (Dennis Wilson) planted in Belmore Park for our 150th railway anniversary celebrations, was thriving," he joked.
"She's a very nice lady and a friend of Goulburn."
