His second term in the role was confirmed at the Club's 90th changeover dinner held at Seiffert Oval's Ken Robson pavilion on Wednesday, June 24.
Tables were set out in accordance with the four square metre rule, but seating spaced around the room in no way inhibited social interaction.
President Bruce welcomed members and guests, who soon enjoyed a meal prepared by Club members and partners.
Bruce spoke about the disruption and uncertainty brought about by the bushfires and the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic meant the cessation of face-to-face meetings and he acknowledged the Post House motel's understanding in our move to Zoom meetings.
Immediate past-president Justin Kell was acknowledged for his expertise in setting up these teleconferenced meetings. The club will return to the Post House motel on Wednesday, July 1, with a limited number permitted in the room.
Similarly, Bruce acknowledged Alex Oliver for his dedicated efforts in updating our Club history.
Key activities which had to be suspended were the Goulburn Speedway catering, the Parkside markets, our Club 90th anniversary celebration, the Anzac Day service, and numerous local events.
In spite of the difficulties in place this year, fundraising achieved creditable heights amounting to more than $43,700. This was raised through Goulburn Speedway catering, the Parkside markets and the Holcim Mayoral Golf Day.
Other catering events included the Classic Motorcycle Riders luncheons, the Motorcycle Swap Meet, Australia Day breakfast and the Parkside Market barbecue.
The Club was also involved in other non-fund-raising community service such as U-Turn the Wheel and the associated Logbook and Seniors' Run; the Science and Engineering Challenge; the Primary Schools' Breakfast program at Bradfordville and North Goulburn; the "Peace Pole" erection at the East Goulburn Primary School; the Hospital Book Exchange program; support for the Rotary Street Van; and Rotary Youth Exchange, Inbound and Outbound students.
President Bruce lamented the passing of George and Daphne Colless, as well as the recent resignation of a senior member, Mac Davidson through ill health.
Finally, he thanked the 2019-20 executive and board of directors and said he was still firm on his intention to accept the Club's presidency for a second term.
Youth Director, Helen Sharwood took the podium and presented 2019/20 exchange student Lutza (Luca) Bozoki with a gift from the club. Luca was delighted with her UGG boots which would be useful in the future Hungarian winter.
In turn the youth exchange students presented Helen with a gift in appreciation of her support.
Emcee Ian Radford invited District Governor Peter Ford to induct president Bruce for his second term. He then bestowed the Presidential Pin, the 2020-21 Rotary International theme banner, and the collar of office.
And most importantly, the Club Charter was handed to President Bruce for safekeeping for another year.
