The project is a part of the $650,000 funding from the state government for the small to medium-sized arts and cultural sector impacted by COVID-19.
Southern Tableland Arts is working with both established and emerging poets for this project.
"We are happy to be one of the recipients and are working on behalf of our community," Rose Marin, executive director, Southern Tablelands Arts said.
"We are working with Southern Highlands Writers Festival and Jugiong Writers Festival and have put together a program that works across both the regional areas."
The project is presented by Southern Tablelands in partnership with Southern Highlands Writers Festival, Eastern Riverina Arts and Jugiong Writers Festival.
It connects performance poets and young people through online workshops and performance opportunities.
Andrew Galan, known for his performance poetry and writing, has signed up to lead the project by mentoring two emerging poets and creating new work for each of the writer's festivals.
Jacki Okot, an emerging poet from Wagga Wagga, will lead a poetry group for young people with support from Andrew through a program of regular mentoring sessions.
The project includes a performance by the emerging poets at the Southern Highlands Writers Festival in Bowral.
