A Fire and Rescue spokesperson said crews from Yass arrived to find a car had hit a building and ruptured a gas main.
They said firefighters worked with NSW Police to evacuate the surrounding building.
According to NSW Police a retirement village at Mount Street was evacuated. They said the elderly residents were returned back into care after the gas main was rendered safe at 9:45pm.
NSW Police said no injuries occurred.
