Superintendent Schilt has accepted the position of District Commander for the Manning Great Lakes Police District in northern NSW.
He will be on annual leave until he moves to the Manning-Great Lakes area with his family on July 18.
Superintendent Schilt has overseen the Hume Police District and parts of Young since February 2018.
Prior to this, he worked at Cootamundra Police Station.

"I was able to volunteer at Goulburn and Young. In particular I assisted with the boxing program," he said.
"It's all about engaging with young people to give them the best opportunities."
Superintendent Schilt said one of his proudest achievements in his time at the Hume was a reduction to the road toll.
"This is a result of educating the community. Police go out to schools and talk to seniors' groups about road safety," he said.
"I've always got great confidence in our police to engage with motorists."
Superintendent Schilt said the key to crime reduction was a partnership between police and the community.
"I've met some absolutely wonderful people in the course of my work," he said.
"They've all contributed to the society that we live in and the good results that we achieve."
Southern Highlands Police officer-in-charge John Klepczarek will assume Superintendent Schilt's position until a replacement is announced.
