Gerry Harvey and wife, Katie Page made a special trip to meet with former Goulburn City mayor Tony Lamarra and his wife, Adriana.
The Lamarras earlier this year bought the former Rogers Department store, part of which Harvey Norman has leased for time.
Mr Lamarra said he first met Mr Harvey about 62 years ago when he and his family, including brother Harry, visited the Saint Marco Coffee Lounge which he operated in Auburn Street. Mr Harvey was born in Crookwell, where the family lived.
"They would come in and have a coffee and we'd have a chat," he said.
"Harry also worked as a driver on the railway when I worked there and I used to clean his engine."
Ms Page is the CEO of Harvey Norman and a chain of stores, including Domain. Mr Lamarra said she was particularly interested in heritage and the Rogers' building's history.
The Rogers established the business in Goulburn in 1859. The family significantly added to the building on the corner of Auburn and Montague Streets when they bought it in 1901.
After Rogers, Grace Brothers operated there for many years.
Since the Lamarras purchased it, Best Buys has set up shop on the top-floor under Geoff Maguire's management. Mr Maguire was also the manager of former tenant, Dimmeys.
