However, centre director Jo Mavrigiannakis completely understood the reasoning behind that and is now glad things are back to normal.

"At a time of uncertainty, we continue to reflect on each child's health and safety," Ms Mavrigiannakis said.

"Whilst we did see a reduction in the number of children physically attending during the pandemic in April, we were fully supportive of our families self-isolating and staying safe at home.

"We are very pleased to see our children and families have now returned, with our centre being back at full capacity."

Although some students didn't physically attend the Reynolds Street venue in the past couple of months, they were able to learn online using the preschool's secure family communication platform, Kinderloop.

"We were also able to use our Home With Big Fat Smile initiative where any family in the community could, and still can continue to, access age appropriate activity ideas via our Big Fat Smile website that supports the ongoing development of children's fundamental skills," Ms Mavrigiannakis explained.

Science, Technology Engineering and Maths (STEM) concepts are arguably the most important ones during school, so the preschool has an extra focus on those aspects.

"That was done through Early Learning STEM Australia (ELSA), a play-based digital learning program for children in preschool to explore STEM concepts," she said.

"ELSA allows children to play, experiment and make sense of the world around them and encourages children to ask questions, make predictions, experiment, and reflect on what happened and why."

With attendance to resume as usual, the preschool will continue to review any children who may present with symptoms that may suggest the possibility of a contagious illness.

"We request the child be collected by family members and provide a medical clearance to ensure there is no situation which would affect other children, staff and families," she said.

"This may include flu, cold, conjunctivitis or COVID-19 symptoms to name a few.

"By supporting this, we ensure any risks are minimised to the best of our ability within our centre."
