The school's relieving principal Bede Darcey thanked member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman for announcing the good news.

"We are very thankful to Mrs Tuckerman and the NSW government for our inclusion in the school crossing supervisor program," Mr Darcey said.

"This will help us ensure our students come to school and leave school safely each and every day."

Ms Tuckerman said Bradfordville Public School was one of 80 schools in the state to be appointed a supervisor as part of the NSW government's plan to have 300 new school crossing supervisors within three years.

"With kids returning to school this week, their safety was the top priority," Ms Tuckerman said.

"This is also part of a suite of measures we are implementing including reduced speed limits in school zones and high visibility safety treatments like signs, road markings and flashing lights."

Schools applied for a supervisor before the end of term 1 and Ms Tuckerman said recruitment would open shortly.

"I strongly encourage dedicated people interested in serving their community to keep an eye out for the job ads," she said.

She also recommended motorists to download the Speed Adviser app which lets drivers know when they enter an active school zone and for teachers and families to visit the Safety Town website https://www.safetytown.com.au/ for educational road safety activities.

The crossing supervisor at Bradfordville Public School will be in attendance at the school during morning and afternoon peak times.
