Police have confirmed a man died after his car crashed and was engulfed with flames on the state's South Coast.

The Kings Highway crash was reported shortly after 1pm on Monday, August 3.
Police said officers from South Coast Police District were called to the scene about 5km west of Nelligen, following reports a car was on fire on the side of the road.
"On arrival, police found the sole occupant of the Mitsubishi Lancer, a 33-year-old man, deceased a short distance away from the car," police said.

"Initial inquiries suggest the car left the road and collided with several trees, before catching alight.
"A crime scene was established, and inquiries commenced by local detectives.
"Anyone with information or dashcam footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
"A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
