The cold snap will come overnight on Wednesday with the chance of snow in the early hours of Thursday further west and in the lower Blue Mountains.
The mercury will reach just eight degrees in Goulburn, Crookwell and Yass on Thursday, with 10 degrees in Bowral and nine degrees at High Range.
But the real white out is predicted after that.
Snow is predicted to continue into Friday morning on higher ground with heavier falls on the way from 1pm, the Bureau of Meteorology's MetEye website shows.
By Saturday morning, snow is predicted for the whole Southern Tablelands and potentially the western parts of the Highlands.
Motorists keen to get out and see the snow are urged to exercise caution during the alpine weather and drive to the conditions.
Predicted maximum temperatures:
- Goulburn: Friday 9 degrees; Saturday 6 degrees; Sunday 9 degrees
- Yass: Friday 7 degrees; Saturday 6 degrees; Sunday 9 degrees
- Crookwell: Friday 6 degrees; Saturday 3 degrees; 6 degrees
- Bowral: Friday 10 degrees; Saturday 7 degrees; Sunday 10 degrees
