The Goulburn Skate Park will also be closed for three weeks, with FDC Contracting hoping to complete removal of the materials by early October.
All work is being undertaken by licensed contractors under the supervision of an asbestos consultant, and council hopes to have the outdoor pool and the skate park open again in early October.
There is no danger to the public, but council has chosen to take extra precautions in order to get the clean-up done quickly and safely.
Management plans are in place for removal of the materials, which include dust suppression and wrapping (bonding) of the non-friable asbestos, while background perimeter air monitoring will be undertaken.
Council apologises for the inconvenience and understands our swimming community will be disappointed by the delay, however this is essential to ensure public safety.
