The empty shops on the main street have always been a topic of discussion.
"It is chamber's priority to ensure that people driving through the town don't see Goulburn as a dying town because of these empty shops," he said.
"The plan is to grow Goulburn Chamber of Commerce significantly, deliver far more value to local businesses, and increase our visibility.
"We would like to ensure that the voices of Goulburn businesses are heard.
"The Goulburn Chamber of Commerce is a symbiotic network that is stronger and more successful if all local businesses are strong and successful.
Mr Weekes was elected unopposed as the president on September 9 at their Annual General Meeting for 2020-21.
""I am confident in the ability of this Executive Committee to deliver on our goal to grow in prominence and relevance in the Goulburn community as the advocate for our members, for all local businesses, and for the people they employ," he said.
He took over from the outgoing president Mark Bradbury who has been in the role for the last three and a half years. Mr Bradbury will continue to be a part of the chamber as a vice president.
Mr Weekes, of Purple Thread Marketing, was born and raised in Goulburn and moved back to the city six years ago. He is a marketing ambassador for the Council of Small Business Organisations Australia, marketing consultant to the Small Business Association, and an industry advisor to Open Colleges Australia.
Over the course of his career, he has worked across the finance, IT, and marketing industries and has owned a number of businesses.
He will be supported by vice presidents Danae Vitnell (Hume Conservatorium) and outgoing president Mark Bradbury (Mark Bradbury Legal).
Liz Townsend (Studio 4 Signs and Design) and Kia Weekes (RSM Goulburn) retained their positions of secretary and treasurer respectively.
