Dr John Hewson, former leader of the Liberal Party, has endorsed the Goulburn Community Energy Co-operative Solar Farm, which is now calling for investors to participate in this innovative, community-owned solar project.

The project, a dispatchable solar farm to be built on Bridge Street in Goulburn, is one of the first community-owned solar farms to be built with its own battery.
The battery storage will enable investors to benefit from the sale of electricity into the grid when prices are higher enabling a higher return on investment.

The farm will be community owned, operated and managed with profits staying in the local community. The project also includes funding to help those who are disadvantaged in the community.
The team are currently establishing guidelines with Anglicare Goulburn to give back to the community by providing financial assistance for disadvantaged Goulburn residents experiencing 'power poverty.'
The project will provide enough electricity to power around 500 homes which will be stored and fed back into the grid each day.
"Goulburn is still one of the leading examples of community solar in the country, and a shining example of what you can do as a community," said Dr Hewson.
"We have a moral responsibility apart from anything else to make this transition to renewable energy," he said.
Anyone in the local region can invest in this project, receive a return on their investment, and be part of a community led initiative to reduce Goulburn's carbon footprint by producing electricity in our own region.
