Work is proceeding apace on the Auburn Street project following August wind and rain delays.

A report to the most recent council meeting stated that two-thirds of the basement pre-cast walls were placed in August. Contractors are now installing floor panels for the venue designed by Brewster Hjorth architects.

The panels are manufactured in Albury.

Operations director Matt O'Rourke said preliminary work also started last month to install a new pad mount station behind Goulburn courthouse to serve as a dedicated power supply for the PAC.

By the end of August, a total $4,945,177 had been spent on the overall project, including $3,711, 901 in construction costs. Zauner Constructions is building the venue.

Mr O'Rourke said foundation adjustments, additional screw piles and caps had soaked up $123,742 of an $800,000 contingency fund. Additional overhead costs accounted for another $128,000.

Zauner Constructions will also claim costs for additional steel needed for the floor support, which Mr O'Rourke says is a "knock-on effect" from the screw piling. The amount is unknown at this stage but will be assessed by the council.

Mr O'Rourke said thorough investigation was needed on the scope of works as attention turned toward the existing part of the building (the McDermott Centre).

"...The heritage nature of the building may present some unknown issues," he said.

It includes installation of service ducts, demolition of internal walls and installation of a fire sprinkler system.

Structural works are expected to continue until December, with roofing and cladding to start in January.

The overall project is due for completion in October, 2021.
