Goulburn Chamber of Commerce and the Goulburn Mulwaree Council have teamed up to put together the events, which are focused around the strategies businesses can use to attract the staff you need, motivate your employees to perform and also utilise disability employment services.
Mayor Bob Kirk encouraged small and large businesses to tune into the panel discussions which are free as part of Small Business Month.
"Each discussion will feature a panel of local experts in that field, from a variety of workplaces and backgrounds. The idea is that they will be interactive, with questions from the floor and maybe even via Facebook, and I'm sure everyone will gain something from the events."
Daryl Weekes, president of the Goulburn Chamber of Commerce, encouraged business owners to take advantage of the events.
"We know from discussions with local business owners that attracting and retaining high-quality people can be problematic in the Goulburn region. There are supply gaps in key skill areas and competition from Canberra, Sydney and other regional hubs. Increasing focus on flexible work options and supporting mental health in the workplace add to the challenges for business owners. Seeing examples of how other businesses are successfully managing talent is invaluable."
The panel events will be held on consecutive Thursday evenings in October, kicking off at 6pm. The date of the events are:
- October 8: Attract the right talent
- October 15: Motivate and retain employees
- October 22: Grow with disability employment
Each event will be held at The Collective, Auburn Street, however, places will be limited due to COVID-19 restrictions. In order to cater for the wider community each event will also be live streamed via Zoom and Facebook pages of the council and Goulburn Chamber of Commerce.
Registrations are essential, and need to be made for those who wish to attend in-person or those who wish to view via the Zoom live stream. They can be made at: www.talent2580.eventbrite.com.au.
Goulburn Chamber of Commerce and Goulburn Mulwaree Council would like to acknowledge the support of the NSW Government for Small Business Month.
