SPARK delivers an innovative accredited training program focused on skills development, work experience and potential employment within the construction sector.

Five weeks into the 15 week course held in Goulburn, SPARK's partner and director Warren Apps said the participants were currently working on a project in Victoria Park.

"They are helping to build a conservation pit in the park," Mr Apps said.

"They are excavating, making concrete footings, building retaining walls and installing furniture.

"Goulburn Mulwaree Council wanted young people on this program to build something young people would use."

Upon completion, participants will receive a Certificate I Construction Pathways, Certificate I in Preparation for Work and Training and a Certificate II Construction Pathways.

They will also gain an industry induction card, asbestos awareness card and personal protective equipment.

SPARK training and employment manager Emma Sckrabei said this would give all the skills participants would need to make it in the construction industry.

"The participants learn skills for work as well as what's expected of them in a workplace and how to function in a vocational setting," Ms Sckrabei said.

"Communication, personal presentation and building self-confidence are all part of their training."

The course ends in early December.
