The traditional country garden at Rossiville, the 1826 Goulburn homestead, is the winner of 69th Lilac City Festival's garden competition.

The new owners of the Rossiville property, Georgina and Ian Chambers, are "thrilled on their first win".
"The property gave us the opportunity to do more of what we love - gardening. We love the architecture, history and people. It was a lovely combination for us," Mrs Chambers said.

"The garden is full of flowers all year round as well as amazing old oaks, olives and elms and other varieties of beautiful trees.
"We have done quite a bit of the work but the bones of the garden were already present. Our aim has always been to retain it.
"We feel honoured to be here and will look after the garden for the coming decades."
Georgina and Ian Chambers bought the property three years ago and were in Sydney prior to that.
"We love Goulburn and wanted to be a little bit closer to the regional town. I have always admired Rossiville and made the quick decision to buy it once it was on the market," she said.
When they moved to Goulburn three years ago, they had to cut down some trees that had died.

"We have replanted new trees, put in a watering system, recovered overgrown footpaths and garden beds since then," she added.
"We have help with the garden from Elana Boxsell and farm is managed after by John Fisher. Actually, it was Elana who encouraged us to enter into the competition."
The historic Rossiville property was built in 1826 by Captain Francis Rossi.
