The initiative is held annually in October to raise awareness for mental health and suicide.

Headspace Goulburn service manager Gail Davies said the organisation would hold their annual Headspace Day on October 21.

This year's theme, "who is your go to?", was developed by youth in the region.

Stickers with the slogan will be distributed to businesses around Goulburn to help raise awareness. On the day staff will don bright green shirts and walk around Goulburn to offer help and point people in the right direction.

Ms Davies said "everyone needs someone to turn to".

She said a common occurence was people who "care for others but not themselves".

"A lot of people don't understand what could be mental health related."

The dedicated woman said that not sleeping well, not eating right, isolation, ongoing worry and withdrawing from things that usually brought joy could all be symptoms of mental health issues.

She urged people to monitor alcohol consumption and seek advice from a General Practitioner if concerned.

"There are ways to make small changes," she said.

Ms Davies said young people from around Goulburn commonly reported bullying, anxiety from social interaction and depressive symptoms. She urged people to reach out to Headspace for help if they needed it.

Headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation for 12 to 25 year olds. Headspace is not a crisis centre.
