In this talk, Markus gives an insight into the background, techniques an processes that went into writing his bestselling novels, including The Book Thief. He tries to focus on the simplest things that makes his stories work - from the comedic to the tragic, and the dramas in between. Markus will answer questions about his novels, as well as cover his background and life growing up in Sydney.

Journey Through Country

The Lieder Theatre Company presents a new play based on Governor Macquarie's diary of his journey through the Goulburn Plains in October 1820. Written locally by Jennifer Lamb, Journey Through Country will have one performance only - outside, along the Mulwaree River, off Lower Sterne Street, Goulburn. The performance will occur under Covid-19 safe conditions. Journey Through Country is presented for Goulburn 2020, commemorating the Goulburn Mulwaree region before, during and after 1820. Journey Through Country has been assisted by Regional Arts NSW through the Country Arts Support Program.
