The documentary entitled A Community Under Fire was inspired by the town's response to, and recovery from, last summer's bushfires.
At the helm of this Braidwood-run film is cinematographer Matt Thane and his son documentary filmmaker Harrison.
Harrison has spent the past decade making documentaries in Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Now, he's working alongside his father and the Braidwood community to chronicle the courage and strength of the town.
Matt, who owns a farm in Mongarlowe, said he joined the RFS but hadn't completed his training when the bushfire crisis hit. He took the opportunity to join the Mosquitoes. The Mongarlowe Mozzies are a community group - with professional firefighters in their midst - who during the crisis put out fires the RFS couldn't get to.
Matt said he had made short films since he left school but had not worked on something this big before. Matt said the documentary was being produced "under [Harrison's] guidance".
The Braidwood community has rallied behind the project with people donating their time to work on the film. Two versions of the documentary will be produced: A 10 to 15 minute cut to be screened internationally, and an hour-long version to be shown in Braidwood.
All funds raised will be donated to the Braidwood Life Fund and the community radio station.
