Officers connected to the Hume Police District, along with rural crime investigators, conducted an operation at Meryla State Forest and Morton National Park on November 14 and 15.
The operation focussed on illegal activities in the area, including unlawful entry into the park following its closure to the public due to fire damage in the forests.
As a result of the operation, police issued 16 infringements for breaches under the National Parks and Wildlife Act and Forestry Acts.
The majority of the infringements related to entering of the parks and forests whilst closed.
Southern Highlands Police officer-in-charge acting Inspector Matthew McCarthy said police would continue to patrol state forests and national parks in the coming months.
"Police will be continuing compliance operations, particularly over the summer and holiday period," acting Inspector McCarthy said.
"I ask the community to adhere to the closure signs of all the state forests and national parks."
