The Braidwood Road facility, operated by the Goulburn Loco Roundhouse Preservation Society Inc, closed to visitors earlier this year due to coronavirus restrictions.

But with those limitations easing and a COVIDSAFE plan in place, the Centre will re-open to pre-booked visitors from December 1.

Society president Kerry Dwyer said visitors would initially be welcome on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. One-hour long tours will be conducted at 10am, 12 noon and 2pm on these days.

"A maximum of 10 people per tour will be inducted into our government approved COVIDSAFE Plan, including a mandatory temperature check, use of hand sanitiser and registration of details. People will then be offered gloves and masks should they choose to use them. Entry to any vehicle will require mandatory wearing of gloves," Mr Dwyer said.

Bookings can be made by phoning 0427 152 100. The Centre requires contactless payment via EFTPOS at $12 per adult, $8 per senior/pensioner and $5 per child.

The Centre is entirely staffed by volunteers. It was the major steam and diesel locomotive depot between Sydney and Junee on the Main South Railway Line.

While visitation has been restricted, the facility has played host to several historic locos over past months, including 3801's return to Goulburn on a test run after a seven-year overhaul.
