"Catchments are very wet, with a lot of water still around from recent rainfall in many parts of the state," a spokesperson said.

It is likely to be wetter than usual for the fortnight between December 21 and January 3 for most of Queensland, as well as eastern NSW, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.
With more rainfall predicted between January to March for the eastern and northern parts of Australia.
The SES advised motorists to make safe decisions and to never walk, drive or ride through floodwater; never camp under trees, powerlines or low hanging branches, and; avoid camping on low lying land near creeks, rivers, streams and other waterways.
