"In this digital age, their brains are doing a lot more things at the same time but less efficiently. I will also talk to them about healthy digital behaviour that allows them to stay connected and concentrate when they need to," she said.
"We know that stress tips us either into a hyper-vigilant state or a passive state where nothing is happening. In the seminar, I will talk to them about how to identify when they have a healthy amount of stress."
Goulburn Mulwaree library manager Erin Williams feel that completing HSC or moving into study at University or TAFE can be an exciting but stressful time for young people.
"This seminar will help young people and the adults in their lives look at ways to manage stress and develop improved resilience to see them through the difficult times."
Maggie has a word of advise for parents for their teens who can use harsh volatile words if they are in an emotional state. "Parents just need to observe the storm and not participate in it. We can support the teens by allowing it to be a part of their development and revisit it later," she added.
The seminar will be held at Goulburn Mulwaree Library on Wednesday, January 27 at 3pm.
The session is free, but bookings are essential and can be made online here, in person at the library, or by calling on (02) 4823 4435.
