The male was on a recreational ride when he lost control of his bike on Cullulla Road, east of Tarago, and hit a tree. He died at the scene. His name has not been released at the family's request.

Inspector Matt Hinton said the cause remained under investigation and a report was being prepared for the coroner.

A man has died in a motorbike crash near Tarago.

Emergency services were called to the scene near the intersection of Lumley and Cullulla Roads, east of Tarago, and 40km from Goulburn at 12.15pm on Sunday.

Police Inspector Matt Hinton said the man, thought to be riding alone, was negotiating a sweeping right-hand bend on a sealed section when his motorcycle lost control and hit a tree.

Emergency services found the man with critical injuries.

NSW Ambulance paramedics and a doctor were airlifted to the crash site and undertook CPR. However the man, believed to be aged in his forties, died at the scene.

The Post understands he was not from this area.

Lumley and Cullulla Roads were closed in both directions while the helicopter was on site. Goulburn Mulwaree Council personnel managed the closures. It was re-opened shortly after 4pm.

Crime scene examiners remained at the crash spot well into the afternoon. The cause remains under investigation.

The man's next of kin have been informed but police have continued liaising with the family. A report will be prepared for the coroner.

The crash occurred about 8km from a fatal motorbike crash on Cullulla Road last November.

The victim, a 40-year-old Canberra man, had been travelling with a group of motorcyclists when he lost control and hit a tree.

Residents have spoken out about Cullulla Road's condition and highlighted the increasing amount of traffic on it and Lumley Road. The latter joins up with Oallen Ford Road, which is part of the main route to Nerriga and the coast.

Residents have reported that more motorcyclists were using the thoroughfare.

Inspector Hinton said the section on which Sunday's crash occurred was not particularly dangerous.

"(But) people using the roads, particularly motorcyclists, are coming to grief," he said.

"It's a section that's had two fatalities so obviously motorcyclists drifting off the edge of the road and impacting with bushland is an issue."
