Mulwaree High School has been in lock down. The incident ended at around 11:30am Thursday.
Police were called to the school an hour or more earlier.
Parents told The Post that they'd received text messages from their children saying they were huddled at the back of classrooms and under desks in response to some kind of threat.
While some parents later arrived to pick up their children whom they said were scared, other students remained at the school and gathered in the playground after the incident had ended.
Police have not given further details. The NSW Department of Education is also yet to respond.
However The Post understands all students are safe.
The school has sent the following message to parents and carers:
"The well being of students at our school is our highest priority, and as such I need to provide you with the following information.
"Out of caution and due to information from police about an incident off school grounds, the school was put into lock down for a short period of time this morning. Once police advised that the incident had been resolved, the lock down was lifted and school operations returned to normal. I would like to congratulate students for the way they conducted themselves during this event."
