Work will be undertaken on three blocks of Auburn Street, stretching from Verner Street to Montague Street. The project will see artificial turf laid and glued, following the success of a trial in front of Belmore Park.

A council spokesperson said the artificial turfing project was part of a CBD enhancement project, and had cost a total of $45,000.
They said laying the turf is a relatively simple process which involved precise cutting and an "incredibly sticky" glue to make sure it was safe to walk on, and wouldn't move over the years.
General manager Warwick Bennett said the council had received "a remarkable amount of feedback about the trial, with the majority of this being positive".
"The turf breaks up the large amount of concrete in the CBD, and along with the newly planted trees and our planter boxes adds a lot of greenery to the area.
"If our CBD is a nicer place to be in, we will attract more people to the area to enjoy our restaurants, cafes and shops - and this is all part of the council's plan with CBD enhancement projects."
Council staff have been liaising with businesses in Auburn Street this week to show them the traffic plan, and to ensure we work with business to minimise any disruptions. Traffic flow will be maintained at all times, however there will be small diversions and short delays, and some parking spaces will be utilised by contractors.
Pedestrians are encouraged to use the mid-block crossings and corner crossings to manoeuvre around the CBD throughout the work.
