Mr Ryrie feels that it's nice to be able to look at ordinary moments and capture them, which we sometimes fail to notice.

"We may recall an event or a fleeting moment in a new way each time we remember it, these images offer new detail and revelations at each viewing. To absorb these moments, you have to be present in the moment," he said.

"I have always been fascinated with how we relate to time and the present moment. It's a very short period of time that human beings perceive being as present. To make the type of work I do, I have to be really present in the moment as none of this is premeditated."

The Exeter based artist was a finalist in the Olive Cotton Award in 2017, Winner of the People's Choice, Goulburn Art Award in 2020. His work is held in the Macquarie Group and Australian Club collections as well as significant private collections.

Talking about the ongoing exhibition at the Goulburn Regional Art Gallery, he says that it is the most ambitious undertaking he has taken here so far.

Mr Ryrie further says that his photographs are not documentaries but represent his memories of how he perceives things and certain moments.

His work, currently on exhibition at the gallery, was created over a period of three years and comprises 18 artworks and will be on display until April 3.

Apart from Mr Ryrie's work, a video work called "Passing Time" by Tamara Dean and artwork from local photographer Stephen Hartup is also being exhibited at the gallery.
