The Growing Goulburn Mulwaree Farms and Gardens is the first project under the 'Building Hume's Future Together' program and helps farmers adapt to climate change.

Community Voice for Hume president Bob Philipson said that through regenerative agriculture, they are helping farmers adapt to rising temperatures, changing rainfall patterns and reduction in the amount of rainfall.

The group encourages farmers to rethink their current conventional farming practices so they can to address these climatic challenges.

"The benefits of best practice/regenerative grazing land management is healthier pastures, healthier livestock, sustainable farm profits and better health outcomes for farmers and farming communities," Mr Philipson said.

"The objective is to improve the soil by a number of practices that will help boost carbon in the soil. By doing so, carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is reduced too," he said.

The event will be held on March 18 at 32 Bangalore Place, Tirrannaville and will discuss landscape management for the farmers.

The workshop also aims to educate people and groups about sustainable gardening, promote good soil management, reduced water use, greater water capture and storage and attract wildlife.

"There is a social side of this as well which is trying to build this together in the community. In the process, help people in the neighbourhood who are disadvantaged in some manner or need a hand," Mr Philipson added.

"This will form the basis of our more climate-resilient community."

The 'Grow Goulburn Mulwaree Gardens' program was launched in 2020 and has a has a 20-member project team including groups like Growing Abilities, which has a community garden at Bradfordville, the Institute of Sustainable Futures, individuals and other organisations.
