Tsakos pleaded not guilty to supplying a small quantity of a prohibited drug, and guilty to aggravated break and enter with intent to steal.
Magistrate Geraldine Beattie said Tsakos stole $5000 cash from a Goulburn business on October 24, 2020. She said police issued a warrant for Tsakos' arrest before she was placed in custody on December 17, 2020.
Solicitor Rod Boyd argued his client "played no role in planning" the theft, and did not "benefit financially". He said the co-accused Hema George Tukiri was the main offender.
Mr Boyd said "only a few years ago [Tsakos] was a productive member of the community". He said she became addicted to the drug 'ice' after her mother passed away.
"Since that time she has lost everything," Mr Boyd said.
"[The accused] wants to turn her life around."
Magistrate Beattie said Tukiri entered the business illegally through the roof and let Tsakos in. She said the pair then stole cash from a change machine.
"Neither of you gave any thought into the impact [of your actions]," the magistrate said.
Tsakos was sentenced to 10 months imprisonment with a seven-month non-parole period. She was ordered to pay $2000 in compensation to the business owner. She will reappear at Goulburn Local Court to face the other charge.
Tukiri received a prison sentence at Liverpool Local court.
