A NSW Police spokesperson said that at about 6:10am on April 14, 2017, police were called to a home on Moresby Avenue, Glenfield, and found 15-year-old Brayden Dillon in bed with a gunshot wound to his head.

They said he was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to The Children's Hospital at Westmead in a critical condition, where he later died.

An investigation was launched by detectives from the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad, assisted by the NSW Crime Commission and South West Metropolitan Region, under Strike Force Wongala.

Seven people have previously been charged by investigators.

Earlier today on April 1 as part of a Raptor Squad operation targeting organised crime figures in correctional facilities, a number of inmates' cells were searched with the assistance Corrective Services NSW.

As part of the ongoing investigation into the murder of Brayden Dillon, a 42-year-old man was issued a Field Court Attendance Notice (FSCAN) at a correctional facility in Goulburn at about 12:20pm.

The man will appear via audio visual link at Goulburn Local Court on May 19.

During the Raptor Squad operation, which was carried out with the assistance of Corrective Services NSW, officers located contraband items including a prohibited drug, found in a cell at a correctional facility at Parklea.

Police are speaking with a 26-year-old male inmate and charges are expected to be laid later today.

Inquiries are continuing.
