At the Camden Interclub on the weekend, Cameron Roberts organised the peloton to chase down the breakaway in Division 1A and set up Jacob Emmerton for a sprint win.
Unfortunately, in the lower grades, the Goulburn riders struggled on the narrow cobbled course with several riders failing to finish due to mechanicals. New riders to interclub racing Zane Jackson, James Quade and Wayne Skillman all had solid performances in Division 2B.
Junior rider Indie Champion travelled to Dubbo to compete in the State Under 11s Track Championships. Indie topped off an outstanding season on the track by taking out gold medals in the sprint, individual time trial, and scratch race.
Three wins in three different disciplines is an outstanding effort. Indie acknowledged the support of family, school and club coach, Graeme Northey, for her success.
Back in Goulburn, the final round of the Club Championship and the last race of the summer season was held at Wakefield Park on Wednesday evening as all grades competed in a criterium.
Conditions were ideal for racing with only a slight breeze to keep the riders cool.
A and B Grades rode together but points and places were given for each grade. Backing up from an Interclub win at Menangle on the weekend, Jacob Emmerton showed he is the form rider at the moment taking out A Grade from brother, Callum, along with the A Grade Club Championshop.
Jason Cook and Jeremy Gilchrist had a close tussle in B Grade. While Jeremy was out of contention for the Club Championship, Jason needed a strong performance for the top honour. In a tight race Jeremy Gilchrist took out the win with Jason in second place and securing enough points to be awarded the Championship.
For the last few months nothing has separated Chris Berry, Ian Wardale and Zane Jackson in C Grade. In another close race, Wardale took out the criterium win and secured the championship. Berry finished second with Jackson in third place.
Young James Quade returned to the winners podium taking out D grade from Wayne Skillman and Elsie Apps. Consistent riding by Skillman over the three rounds of racing was enough to secure the Club Championship.
Riders will take a short break before the commencement of the Winter season after the Easter break.
