A spokesman said the work involved adjustment of railway sleeper heights and placing additional ballast along two sections of the track. It was aimed at improving the network's efficiency and was not related to remediation work in the rail corridor to address lead contamination.
"This work will not disturb the underlying ground and is necessary to improve track alignments and in turn the efficient operation of the rail network," he said.
Crews will work over three days from Tuesday, April 20 to Thursday, April 22 between 6am and 4.30pm, weather permitting.
The authority advised there could be some dust impacts as a result.
"We will make every effort to minimise dust by wetting the site before we start work and by closely monitoring the job," a spokesman said.
"The environment manager will be on site at all times during the work to monitor dust. There may be some minor noise associated with this work (but) there will be no impacts to traffic.
