Ahead of this Saturday's meet, race secretary Tony Kranitis hopes that the run of big turnouts to the Speedway events will continue.
"All our meetings have been big, we haven't had a lot for one reason or another, but the ones we have had have been massive," Kranitis said.
"Since the pandemic, people couldn't go anywhere and now they're taking advantage of it."
The Speedway has regularly been packed to the brim with eager viewers in 2021, and Kranitis expects the exciting roster of cars on display this weekend to keep that trend alive.
"This weekend we're hoping to get a good crowd again, we've got the big V8s and they're a crowd pleaser," he said.
"The Formula 500s are running, Lightning Sprints, Micro Sprints, there's a big variety, and we're starting early because of daylight savings ending. We'll be opening the gates at 2pm to start racing at 4pm."
The Speedway's numbers, Kranitis suspects, have also been boosted by the unfortunate closure of the Parramatta speedway.
Similarly, it has not been all smooth sailing for the Goulburn track, which struggled financially due to COVID-19 and has had a number of events cancelled this year due to inclement weather.
"It was pretty dry last season when we had to pull up stumps with no money coming in, but the few shows we've had so far have been excellent," Kranitis said. "Unfortunately the weather hasn't been too kind with the rain.
"We've had some major events that we've had to keep postponing, the last one would have seen the largest amount of nominations for a long time. There was a memorial race in the wingless sprints which would have been an 86-lapper, but that's been postponed until May 8."
The Speedway has also begun preparations for its 50th anniversary celebrations, which will take place on June 12 at the Goulburn Workers Club.
In the midst of organising the event, Kranitis wondered how all those years had passed so quickly.
"I've been here since day dot, where have the years gone?" he asked rhetorically.
The evening will feature a two course meal, with a celebratory cake and music as well.
Returning members will also be asked to bring in any memorabilia they care to share, so patrons can indulge in memories of past meets and seasons.
Tickets to the 50th anniversary celebrations are already on sale. Those interested in attending should move quickly, as there is a limit of 200 attendees and roughly 60 tickets have already been sold.
The upcoming Goulburn Speedway meet will take place on Saturday, April 17, from 4pm.
