The historic steam engine had travelled to the Riverina the previous week, its first country run since the refurbished loco was relaunched on March 12. There it thrilled enthusiasts with a series of one-hour passenger trips out of Albury, Junee and Wagga Wagga.
The 1943 loco went out of service in 1962 but since 2007 has undergone an extensive restoration. Goulburn engineer Ken Ainsworth worked on its boiler.
On Monday, keen snapper Linda Mace perched herself at Yarra, near the Coles Lane crossing, for a bird's eye view of 'the grand old lady of the tracks.'
Though a cold morning, the heat haze from the tracks and railway ballast made for some interesting effects.
The old loco will again be hitting the tracks on May 8 and 9 for a trip from Sydney to the Blue Mountains and return, which includes high tea at the Hydro Majestic Motel. It is already sold out.
