A crowd of protesters from the Hume Electorate gathered at Belmore Park on April 27. The group, comprised of multiple community organisations, wanted to send a message to Angus Taylor MP.

Via silent protest outside his office the objectors aimed to draw to Mr Taylor's attention that public funds could be better spent instead of on gas, coal and oil projects. The protesters then moved along Auburn Street to Wendy Tuckerman's office.

Goulburn Group president Mhairi Fraser joined the protest because she was "frustrated" and wanted the government to "get on with the job" of addressing climate change.

"We need to do something, we are getting stifled at every step," she said.

"The Goulburn community has already shown we want to be part of the solution to climate change. Now we want to get the government on board.

"We need to have strong leadership, without it we are lost."

Melissa George, from the Southern Highlands, said she opposed the future of funding gas.

She said there were plenty of underfunded initiatives that would be more beneficial to the community including: Renewable energy, aged care, education, disability services, indigenous ownership and more.

Melissa said she had children and grandchildren and had become involved in the movement to ensure their future.
