NSW Police Academy principal superintendent Rod Smith said the charity looked after the families of fallen police officers.
"Police Legacy supports the families who have lost their loved ones in the course of their duty," Supt Smith said.
"It's a very important charity that's close to our heart.
"We supported it last year and we're doing it again this year."
The academy has set up a couple of events to raise funds for the cause.
"The students and staff are supporting the charity through registration and a number of specific events," Supt Smith said.
"We will have longer distant relays as well as runs around our oval.
"There'll be some minor prizes."
Most Australian states and territories have a Police Legacy that cares for police families in need, supports families who lose a loved one to illness and assists injured members.
Each Police Legacy provides unique services to its members and is operated independently.
