After the completion of the first two rounds in the All Age Men's competition, Wollondilly Soldiers Green have taken an early lead on the ladder courtesy of two big wins.
The biggest of these victories came on Saturday, in the course of a 10-2 thumping of Wollondilly Soldiers Gold.
The competition leaders are closely followed by Goulburn Strikers FC and Stags FC, both of whom also have two wins to their names but slightly smaller goal differentials.
Goulburn Workers FC round out the top four of the competition, closely followed by perennial scrappers, Crookwell in fifth.
This weekend's scheduled matches will provide some interesting viewing, as Wollondilly Green prepares for its first big challenge of the year, against reigning premiers and Association Cup winners in Stags FC.
Meanwhile, fifth-ranked Crookwell will take on sixth-ranked Stags 97, while last-ranked MBK will aim to lift their prospects with a win over Workers FC and Wollondilly Gold take on Strikers FC.
In the combined STFA and Highlands Soccer Association Youth League competition, the Goulburn Workers FC have taken an early lead, with Hill Top in a close second place.
The new-look competition features four more teams than in 2020, with the addition of teams from Mittagong, Exeter, Yerrinbool, and another Stags side.
Much like last year, Workers FC, Hill Top, and Moss Vale lead the competition. But it is too early to say whether this trend will last throughout the season or if one of the new sides will step up to become a contender. Many expected to get a clearer image last weekend, but rain washed out three scheduled matches.
This weekend will give some of the newer sides a chance to test themselves, as Stags Black take on Workers FC and Yerrinbool Faces Hill Top. Meanwhile, there will also be a Stags derby between Stags FC and Stags 97, while Crookwell will face Moss Vale in Crookwell and Exeter plays Mittagong.
