Author Meredith Jaffé will be in conversation with library staff about her latest book, The Dressmakers of Yarrandarrah Prison. Inspired by real events, The Dressmakers of Yarrandarrah Prison is a funny, dark and moving novel.Think The Full Monty meets Orange is the New Black with an Aussie twist. It's a poignantly comic story about a men's prison sewing circle and as unlikely as it sounds, it's based on a real men's sewing organisation, Fine Cell Work, which operates in prisons throughout the British Isles teaching inmates needlework and quilting. On hearing about the UK men's sewing charity, Meredith went down a long and deep rabbit hole of research and discovered many of the Fine Cell Work pieces are of an incredible standard and can be found hanging in the Victoria & Albert Museum, Buckingham Palace, and Elton John's home. The Dressmakers of Yarrandarrah Prison takes this grain of fact and weaves a story of finding humanity, friendship and redemption in the most unexpected of places. It's heart-warming, heartbreaking and brilliantly readable.

Worldwide Knit in Public Day
- June 12 at Belmore Park, 173 Auburn St in Goulburn from 10am-3pm. For more details, contact nshinfield@yahoo.com.au or call on (02) 4844 4221.
Worldwide Knit in Public Day is June 12 was started in 2005 by Danielle Landes. It began as a way for knitters to come together and enjoy each other's company. Knitting is such a solitary act that it's easy to knit alone somewhere and sink into your work without thinking about all the other knitters out there. Neighbours could spend all their lives never knowing that the other knits. June 12th at Belmore Park between 10am & 3pm is the date, a specific day to get out of your house and go to a local event (with your knitting in tow) just for young people like you. Who knows you might even bump into your neighbour. The display will be on show in Belmore Park for the week, from the June 12-18 and then will take pride of placement in front of the Civic Centre until the July 18.
