As with many amateur sports, the cost of representative duties can often be exorbitant with uniforms, travel mileage, and accommodation among the many expenses incurred.
The decision to approach the Workers Club, said association vice president, Karen Campbell, was made in order to ease the cost for the players and allow the GDNA to pursue further improvements for netball facilities.
"It's great to know that part of the community does support us," Campbell said.
"Now we can take steps towards developing our facilities as well as helping our players get along to state and reducing the costs involved."
While the GDNA was not hit as hard as some local sporting organisations during COVID-19 lockdowns in mid-2020, Campbell hopes the support of the Workers Club can make life easier for individual members whose financial circumstances have changed due to the pandemic.
"It's more for the individual players that COVID had an impact on," she said.
"This kind of support does help people who may not have been able to look at these opportunities for representative netball because it was financially out of reach."
Goulburn Workers CEO, Brett Gorham, said the club was "delighted" to be partnered with the GDNA.
"Goulburn Workers has maintained a healthy relationship with many sporting and community organisations over the years," he said.
"The board was more than happy to provide some financial assistance to Goulburn and District Netball Association, whose committee works tirelessly to raise funds.
"This assistance will provide some relief for them to maintain and operate their competition for many females, children and adults alike from the Goulburn community."
Likewise, Goulburn Netball was "absolutely excited" by the support from the Workers Club, Campbell said.
The timing of the announcement was ideal for the GDNA, with dozens of players preparing to travel to Sydney this weekend for the Senior State Titles.
The Junior State Titles will follow on the last weekend in June.
