Our branch is supportive of improved health provision in country areas and the need for more rural doctors. We provide an annual scholarship to an ANU third year rural medical student. This year's recipient, Joseph Beaton, was recently presented with a cheque at an afternoon tea at the ANU Rural Clinical School at the Base Hospital.

We also awarded scholarships to two local TAFE rural students, Claire Liveridge and Blake Martin, as part of the branch's ongoing commitment to supporting the training of much needed skilled rural workers. We were impressed by the high calibre of these young people and wish them success in the future.
Members are encouraged to look at the annual conference motions which are available through a link in the Farm Post on-line newsletter and make any comments to delegates - Margaret, Nerida or Geoff or to RSM Dave Banham.

Locally, some people in the area, especially around Bannister, have concerns with Transgrid plans for power transmission lines through their properties and the Association has been assisting members with their negotiations.
Others in the Bungonia area have major concerns about the proposal for a waste facility on Jerrara Road to generate. NSWFA encourages farmers to join as members to access assistance with these and other issues.
