The company will close operations at its Inverell plant by December 2021, consolidating its dry pet food manufacturing at the main production facility at Dubbo.

"The decision to close the factory has been very difficult because it impacts the lives of 68 employees and their families," CEO, David Grant said.

"With this in mind, we have offered all employees a generous redundancy package, counselling support and a range of job and outplacement assistance locally or with our five other facilities across Australia."

The decision was made on financial grounds, he explained, while noting it was a "tough" choice to make.

"The transition of production to our Dubbo facility was made on strong commercial grounds. It provides strong synergies and the ability to concentrate and focus on improved products and greater economies of scale," Mr Grant said.

"The decision has been tough, and we greatly appreciate the efforts of all our Inverell employees."

The transition will be a gradual one, with the production gradually transferred from the site until its closure at the end of the year.

Its hoped "most" of their employees will "have employment until then".

"We will continue to work closely with all employees to ensure they have as much support needed from now until we close the site," Mr Grant said.

There are no plans yet for the future of the site.

Decisions on the land and buildings will only be made in 2022.
