The 39-year-old Ballarat man attended hospital on Sunday with puncture wounds to the buttocks and lower back.
Police allege the non-life-threatening injuries were caused by an air rifle during a dispute.
On Tuesday, they searched a home on Drummond Street in Ballarat and arrested a 37-year-old Ballarat man.
He was charged with intentionally causing injury and possessing ammunition and is expected to face Ballarat Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
