The works have included upgrading the rail on the bridge to address safety concerns. The bridge was constructed in 1928 and the rail system had fallen into disrepair. Many of the 1928 steel components had seen better days and no longer meet current day requirements.
EuroCivil was contracted to undertake the following works which includes removal of the existing cast iron rail system which was old and damaged.
Works on retaining the existing concrete pillars for aesthetic and sentimental purposes was also completed.
It also includes installing new bridge barrier, with connections to the existing reinforced concrete kerb and transition connections to existing bridge approach rail.
"This work has been completed promptly and will ensure greater safety on this bridge," said Director of Infrastructure, Glenn Lacey.
