Climate activists around the world, with the exception of Greta Thunberg and similarly outspoken youth, who tell it like it is, have learned to concentrate on the benefits of taking action on the climate in economic terms and not in terms of the imperative to save human life.

With the increasingly pace of extreme weather events and their enormous cost both in human life and money, together with the looming IPCC report that says we are close to the point of no return in keeping temperature increases under control, the time has come to speak out.
Unfortunately the Government has a tin ear and hemmed in by the coal-loving National Party. Vested interests rule our Government and even if they were inclined to act, their record in rolling out the COVID vaccine program is not a good sign. So we are left to return to practices of childhood of kneeling by our beds and praying fervently, in this case for the tin to fall from our politicians ears and for them to take action.

Homelessness Week
As we enter Homelessness Week (1-7 August), every night there are more than 116,000 people who are homeless and don't have somewhere safe or secure to sleep - including 37,715 in NSW.
At Mission Australia, we hear the cries for help on the frontline. Many of our services are at capacity, with social housing waitlists ballooning.
We anticipate August's 2021 Census will show an increase homelessness, yet our Federal Government still has no national plan to end homelessness in Australia. Please consider signing up to the Everybody's Home campaign to call for solutions to end homelessness at everybodyshome.com.au.
There was a distinct lack of leadership in the Federal Budget - we need to do better.
